DETOX AND CLEANSES FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Our bodies accumulate toxins daily. The food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink all are filled with toxins.

For example, GMO foods (i.e. seeds, plants, animals or microorganisms), have had their genetic material (DNA) altered in a non-natural way.

Other toxins in our food come from chemical fertilizers, being cooked in artificial saturated oils, preservatives, chemicals from containers, and artificial flavors to name a few. Toxins can even be found in our air and water!

Throw on stress and alcohol and our gut bacteria cannot tolerate these pollutants and need a good periodic Detox and Cleansing program for a healthy and resilient body.

Methods of Detoxing and Cleansing

“Detoxes” and “Cleanses”:  FOR WEIGHT LOSS

A variety of “detoxification” diets, regimens, and therapies—sometimes called “detoxes” or “cleanses”—are used to remove toxins from your body, lose weight, or promote health.

“Detoxification” programs may involve a single process or a variety of approaches such as

Fasting. Drinking only juices or similar beverages, eating only certain foods ' Using dietary supplements or other commercial products Using herbs

Cleansing the colon (lower intestinal tract) with enemas, laxatives, or colon hydrotherapy (also called “colonic irrigation” or “colonics”)

Reducing environmental exposures

Using a sauna

These programs may be advertised commercially, offered at health centers, or part of naturopathic treatment.

However, some “detoxification” programs can be unsafe and falsely advertised. For more information on safety, see the “What about safety?” section below.

(note: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends chelation therapy, a type of chemical detoxification procedure, for removing toxic metals from the body in some specific serious cases. This page does not address that type of detoxification.)

NATURAL DETOXES FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Dandelion is also known by several other names and is the number one choice of the people of Europe for detoxing their body. It is also used for treating Tonsillitis, bladder infections, abdominal pain, constipation, arthritis pain, and other conditions. The FDA has not approved this product for medical use.

Dandelion is often sold as a supplement. Many herbal compounds do not have specific manufacturing requirements, and some of the advertised additives are contaminated with harmful metals or other drugs. Herbal or health supplements should be purchased to reduce the risk of contamination.

INTERMITANCE FASTING  For Weight Loss

There are many different ways to lose weight.

One strategy that has become popular in recent years is called intermittent fasting (1Trusted Source).

Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that involves regular, short-term fasts — or periods of minimal or no food consumption.

Most people understand intermittent fasting as a weight loss intervention. Fasting for short periods of time helps people eat fewer calories, which may result in weight loss over time (1Trusted Source).

However, intermittent fasting may also help modify risk factors for health conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, such as lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels (2, 3Trusted Source, 4, 5Trusted Source).

This article explores everything you need to know about intermittent fasting and weight loss.
