GLP1 Medication

GLP-1 (glucagon) are a common name for a class of type 2 diabetes medications that can help you lose weight while improving your blood sugar management.

The amount of weight you lose depends on how much you are taking. When using these drugs, weight loss can range from 3 to 5.5 pounds (1.5 to 2.5 kilograms or kg)

If you are actively trying to lose weight by changing your lifestyle and adding one of these medicines to your mix, research shows that you can lose another 6 to 9 pounds (2.8 to 4.2 kg).

GLP-1 agonists are a type of medicine for diabetes that include:

Dulaglutide (Trulicity) injected once a week.

Prolonged-release exenatide (Bydureon)  injected once a week.

Exenatide (Byetta) given twice a day.

Semaglutide (Ozempic), injected once a week

Semaglutide (Rybelsus) given once a day

Liraglutide (Victoza) taken by injection

Liraglutide (Victoza), taken by injection daily

Lixisenatide (Adlyxin), taken by injection daily

This drug works in the same way as peptide hormones like glucagon 1. This drug causes the body to secrete more insulin when blood sugar levels rise after eating. This increased insulin helps lower blood sugar.

Low blood sugar helps manage type 2 diabetes, although it is not clear how GLP-1 causes weight loss. According to doctors, GLP-1 may helps to reduce hunger

This drug may slows down the transport of food from the stomach to the small intestine. As a result, you can feel full faster and for a long- period, which will force you to eat less.

GLP-1 and SGLT-2 inhibitors offer other great benefits, in addition to helping control blood sugar and promoting weight loss. According to research, several drugs in this family have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, including heart failure, stroke, and kidney disease.

Blood pressure and cholesterol levels improved in people taking the drug, although it's unclear whether this was due to the drug or weight loss.

The disadvantage of GLP-1 is that all but one must be injected. Also, as with anything, there are possible side effects, some of which can be serious.

The more typical side effects usually go away after you have taken the drug for a while.

Liraglutide (Saxenda) is a glucagon-like peptide receptor agonist (GLP-1) that slows gastric emptying and increases post-meal satiety, in addition to stimulating insulin release and inhibiting glucagon secretion. It is marketed as a dietary and exercise supplement for overweight or obese adults.

OZEMPIC

What is Ozempic?

Medications used to treat certain disorders can sometimes cause weight loss, and companies can investigate whether medications have the same benefits for those who do not have the condition.

For example, Ozempic is a drug for type 2 diabetes.

The FDA currently considers Ozempic a weekly injection to help you lose weight with diet and exercise.

Ozempic will be the second drug in its approved class to lose weight in overweight or obese adults after the new instruction.

We will cover everything you need to know about Ozempic to lose weight, including when it is approved.
